Ramp Spraying Services (RSS) Ramp Spraying Services was established in 2001 to bring in-house the increasing demands for painting that had hitherto been sub-contracted.
The first employee, Derek Smith (the current unit manager, who was a Honeywell Aerospace trained coating specialist) was brought to Ramp to set-up the company and develop a strategy for the growth of the business. The concept was to develop a coatings division which would cater not only for the coating requirements of Ramp Industries but would also seek out other customers to help stabilise the fluctuations in Ramp’s painting requirements. The first accreditation the business obtained was from Augusta-Westland Helicopters, but soon accreditations from Honeywell and Thales followed. Following the gaining of a licence for C.A.R.C. (Chemical Agent Resistant Coatings), RSS were approved by BAE Systems and won a major contract for supplying coating services for the M777 Howitzer, a four year contract. RSS is continuing to grow in the defence and particularly aerospace markets and has recently gained the prestigious NADCAP approval. The company has grown considerably and has eight qualified staff, six spray booths and offers a range of pre-treatment and coating services including:
