Ramp Industrial Sewing (RIS)

The manufacture of sewn products started at Ramp when a small sewing room with one machinist was established to make the accessories for the ground support equipment that the Company had started to manufacture. (E.g. tags, bags and transportation covers).

Following the formation of Ramp Industries and the focus on ground support equipment, Ramp Industrial Sewing was formed.

The location of RIS near to Augusta-Westland Helicopters (WHL) enabled visits for design and validation to be made quickly and easily. The relationship between RIS and WHL continues to develop and RIS has become the key supplier of covers, bungs and bags to WHL.

There are now four machinists at RIS and the unit manufactures sewn goods for use on Ramp’s ground support equipment (such as flags and covers) and a range of products which it supplies directly to many customers, including the MOD.

These products can be designed from customer supplied drawings, or by on-site measurement, fitting and validation at the customer’s premises.
